Qingdao's art lantern festival for Chinese New Year kicked off in a brilliant manner at the Qingdao Cosmopolitan Exposition in Qingdao West Coast New Area on Jan 22.
Thousands of lanterns were lit up together at the scene, launching a Spring Festival cultural feast.
The art lantern festival will be held from Jan 22 to Feb 15. Leveraging the rich experience and exquisite craftsmanship of the Zigong lantern festival in Sichuan province, over 50 sets of large lantern installations, with auspicious meanings and exquisite beauty, will present a beautiful Spring Festival picture for citizens and tourists alike under a nearly kilometer-long corridor of lights.

During the art lantern festival, Qingdao West Coast New Area will also launch over a hundred colorful cultural and tourism activities. Over 40 types of performances, such as datiehua (strike iron flower), Sichuan opera face changing, and equestrian shows, will be staged one after another, providing visitors with over a hundred audio-visual feasts daily. Additionally, the event will feature a combination of specialty snacks, intangible cultural heritage markets, children's kingdoms, and more. Traditional interactive games like riddle solving and lantern appreciation will be available alongside modern activities such as go-karting and VR experiences.
The brilliant lanterns and lively activities create a festive atmosphere, and the Qingdao Cosmopolitan Exposition warmly invites guests from everywhere to immerse themselves in the unique charm of Qingdao West Coast New Area through an engaging, multidimensional experience.
